A 39-year-old woman entered no contest pleas today for posing as a teenager and sending threatening letters to a Catholic school, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

Magaly Esmeralda Alvarenga of Rialto entered the pleas to two counts of criminal threats and one count of stalking in case KA118228.

The defendant is scheduled to return to court for sentencing on Aug. 9 in Department F of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pomona Branch. Alvarenga is expected to be sentenced to three years and eight months in state prison.

Deputy District Attorney Elyse Rendon said between December 2017 and May 2018, Alvarenga sent several alarming letters to St. Lucy's Catholic School in Glendora and signed the documents with the initials of a student.

On May 10 and May 23, the defendant sent two additional letters which allegedly contained white powder and drugs, according to evidence presented at the preliminary hearing.

The case was investigated by the Glendora Police Department.
