A 33-year-old man was sentenced today to 16 years in state prison for raping two women in separate incidents in Long Beach, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
On Oct. 13, 2015, defendant David Faavale Tautolo of Signal Hill pleaded no contest to two counts of forcible rape in case NA100574.
In addition to today's prison sentence, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Richard R. Romero ordered the defendant to register as a lifetime sex offender. Also, Tautolo was ordered to stay away from the victims for 10 years.
Deputy District Attorney Safaan Ahmed, who prosecuted the case, said on Jan. 14, 2014, the first victim was at a bus station when the defendant grabbed her, forced her into his car and raped her in the vehicle.
Nine months later, on Oct. 16, 2014, the defendant picked up the second victim in his car, took her to an alley and raped her, the prosecutor added.
Authorities located Tautolo the next day and arrested him in connection with the crimes.
The case was investigated by the Long Beach Police Department.
