A 33-year-old man pleaded no contest today to raping two women in separate incidents in Long Beach, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

At today's court appearance, David Faavale Tautolo of Signal Hill pleaded no contest to two counts of forcible rape in case NA100574.

The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 3 in Department S21 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Long Beach Branch. Tautolo faces 16 years in state prison and will have to register as a lifetime sex offender.

Deputy District Attorney Safaan Ahmed, who prosecuted the case, said on Jan. 14, 2014, the first victim was at a bus station when the defendant reportedly grabbed her, forced her into his car and raped her in the vehicle.

Nine months later, on Oct. 16, 2014, the defendant picked up the second victim in his car, took her to an alleyway and raped her, the prosecutor added.

Authorities located Tautolo the next day and arrested him in connection with the crimes.

The case was investigated by the Long Beach Police Department.
