A 24-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman have been charged in connection with the alleged car-tocar shooting of a driver on Burbank Boulevard, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
Joseph Michael Lupercio aka Blanco (dob 1/9/92) of Sylmar faces one count each of attempted murder, shooting at occupied motor vehicle and assault with a firearm.
Case GA098103 includes allegations that Lupercio used a handgun and that he inflicted great bodily injury upon the victim.
Sarah Sullivan (dob 11/20/89) of Bishop faces one count of accessory after the fact, knowledge of crime.
Deputy District Attorney Jodi Taksar said both defendants pleaded not guilty today and are due back on March 1 in Department J of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pasadena Branch.
On Feb. 8, Sullivan is accused of driving on an overpass in Burbank, while Lupercio was on the passenger's side when he allegedly shot at a vehicle where her ex-boyfriend was a passenger, prosecutors said. The driver of that vehicle was injured, but not the ex-boyfriend, prosecutors added.
Lupercio is being held on $2 million bail and probation was revoked in case LA080981 in which the defendant pleaded no contest in 2015 to one felony count each of fleeing a pursuing peace officer's motor vehicle while driving and driving or taking a vehicle without consent. Bail for Sullivan was set at $500,000.
If convicted as charged, Lupercio faces a possible maximum sentence of life in state prison and Sullivan faces three years in state prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Burbank Police Department.
