Man Sentenced to 15 Years to Life for Killing Uber Driver in Crash

A 25-year-old man was sentenced today to 15 years to life in state prison for killing an Uber driver in a hit-and-run crash in South Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

A jury convicted Kevin Moran (dob 1/19/93) of Los Angeles on March 13 of one felony count each of second-degree murder, hit-and run driving resulting in death to another person and hit-and-run driving resulting in injury to another person.

On Jan. 14, 2017, Moran was driving at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Arlington Avenue. Moran's vehicle crashed into an Uber vehicle, killing the driver, 52-year-old Folesha Parker-Iverson.

A passenger in the Uber vehicle also was injured.

Deputy District Attorneys Melissa Opper and Leslie Hinshaw prosecuted case BA453703.

The Los Angeles Police Department, South Traffic Division, investigated the case.
