A 31-year-old man was sentenced today to 50 years to life in state prison for murdering his partner on Skid Row last year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

Daniel Molayem was found guilty last month of first-degree murder. Weapon allegations were found to be true.

Deputy District Attorney Lisa Kassabian of the Family Violence Division prosecuted the case.

On March 23, 2016, Molayem approached his girlfriend in the 500 block of San Pedro Street and shot her with a handgun. The victim died at the scene.

The defendant and the victim were in a dating relationship for more than 15 years, the prosecutor said.

Case BA445216 was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
