A 20-year-old Azusa man entered a plea today to sexually assaulting a woman at her Glendale home, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney Fernanda Barreto said Justin Amador Rios pleaded guilty to one count of forcible sexual penetration and admitted an allegation that he used a knife in the attack.
Sentencing in case GA096423 is scheduled for May 16 in Department E of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Glendale Branch. Rios faces a state prison sentence of 24 years to life.
On June 3, 2015, the defendant broke into the 38-year-old victim's home and assaulted her at knifepoint, the prosecutor said. When she managed to scream for help, her adult son woke up and stopped the attack, the prosecutor added. Rios escaped but was later captured.
The case was investigated by the Glendale Police Department.
