A man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in her Torrance home last month, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
Kenneth Collard (dob 10/9/66) was charged in case YA097891 with three counts of lewd act upon a child and one count of sexual penetration by foreign object. Arraignment will be scheduled at a later date.
The case was filed for warrant on May 14.
Deputy District Attorney Ann Marie Wise of the Justice System Integrity Division is prosecuting the case. The defendant is a Los Angeles police officer.
On April 4, Collard was staying at a friend's house in Torrance. During the middle of the night, he allegedly entered the victim's bedroom and is accused of sexually assaulting her. The incident was reported to law enforcement.
Prosecutors are recommending bail be set at $400,000. If convicted as charged, Collard faces a possible maximum sentence of 32 years in state prison.
The case remains under investigation by the Torrance Police Department
