A 53-year-old man was charged today after he was accused of fatally stabbing another man in Whittier, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
George Luis Delgado (dob 3/14/62) of Pico Rivera has been charged with one count of murder in case VA140282.
The felony complaint includes a special allegation that the defendant personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, a knife, during the commission of the crime.
Additionally, the charging document alleges Delgado was previously convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2006, petty theft with priors in 2009, and possession for sale of a controlled substance in 2014.
Delgado is scheduled to be arraigned today at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Downey Branch in Department 4.
Prosecutors will ask bail be set at $1 million. Prosecutors said on Sept. 26 Delgado reportedly arrived at his ex-girlfriend's Whittier home and confronted the woman and her new boyfriend, Tyrone Duran, 42.
Duran subsequently left the area, but returned some time later, prosecutors said.
When Duran came back to the home, he was allegedly faced by Delgado again and the two men got into a fight, prosecutors added.
During the physical struggle, Delgado reportedly stabbed Duran, prosecutors said. The victim was taken to the hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Eleven days after the incident, authorities located Delgado and arrested him in connection with the killing.
The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
