A 58-year-old man has been found guilty of molesting five boys over a seven-year period, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
Jurors returned guilty verdicts yesterday against Amador Valencia Santos for three counts of oral copulation on a minor, two counts each of sodomy on a child, lewd acts upon a child and continuous sexual abuse and one count of attempted sodomy.
Deputy District Attorney Paul Thompson of the Sex Crimes Division prosecuted the case.
Between 2000 and 2007, Santos sexually abused five boys ranging in age from 7 to 17 years old. The defendant preyed upon his victims, most of whom were being raised by single mothers, by often convincing the families he could be a surrogate father to the boys.
Evidence presented at trial showed that Santos was given unfettered access to the boys and he bought them video games, clothing and other items. He also took them on outings that lasted several days and had them sleep over at his house.
Santos introduced the victims to pornography and then sexually assaulted them, the prosecutor said.
Santos is scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 22 when he faces a possible maximum sentence of 52 years to life in state prison.
Case BA454491 was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, Southwest Division.
