A 19-year-old man was charged today with the shooting death of a man he dated and another man in Inglewood, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
Deputy District Attorney Jessica Tillson said Christian Francisco Veliz (dob 5/10/99) faces two counts of murder with a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders and allegations of using a handgun and causing great bodily injury and death.
Arraignment in case YA098201 was scheduled today but continued to May 22 in Department 5 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Inglewood Branch.
Both victims, Christian Martinez, 27, and Saul Reyes, 39, were found shot to death in a car parked on the 3600 block of West 107th Street in Inglewood on April 30, the prosecutor said. The criminal complaint alleges the murders occurred on or about April 29.
Veliz faces the death penalty or life in state prison without the possibility of parole if convicted as charged. A decision on whether to seek capital punishment in this case will be made at a later date.
The case remains under investigation by the Inglewood Police Department.
