A woman who was already facing domestic violence-related charges has been charged in an attack that occurred last month at a Hollywood bar, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.
Eduarda DeCastro (dob 10/19/91), a Brazilian national, was charged yesterday in an amended complaint with one felony count each of assault with a deadly weapon, mayhem, battery with serious bodily injury and assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury in case BA467378. The new charges include allegations of personally inflicting great bodily injury.
She was charged April 19 with one felony count each of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and injuring a spouse. Those charges include an allegation of personally inflicting great bodily injury under circumstances involving domestic violence and using a deadly and dangerous weapon, a glass.
She has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges. Bail was set at $355,000.
A preliminary hearing setting is scheduled for Nov. 1 in Department 32 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center.
On March 31, 2018, DeCastro allegedly got into an altercation with her spouse at their Los Angeles residence and threw a glass at him, hitting him in the head, prosecutors said. On Sept. 2, the defendant is accused of throwing a glass bottle at a woman's face, then attacking another woman whose head hit the ground during a confrontation at a bar in the 1600 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard.
DeCastro faces a possible maximum sentence of 17 years in state prison if convicted as charged.
