18-YEAR-OLD SKATEBOARDER CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED FORCIBLE RAPE AND SEXUAL BATTERY FOR ASSAULTING FEMALE JOGGERS IN IRVINE

SANTA ANA, Calif. – An 18-year-old man was charged with attempted forcible rape and sexual battery for assaulting female joggers in Irvine.

Defendant Charges Maximum Sentence Court Date
Keenan Al-Sayed Ahmad, 18, Irvine Charged on April 3, 2018, with the following felony counts:
  • Attempted forcible rape
  • Assault with intent to commit a sexual offense
  • Sexual battery by restraint
  • (2) Sexual battery
Six years in state prison Continued Arraignment

Circumstances of the Case

  • On Dec. 17, 2017, Ahmad is accused of groping Jane Doe 2's buttocks as he rode past the jogger on his skateboard in Irvine. The victim later reported the incident to the Irvine Police Department (IPD).
  • On Dec. 18, 2017, the defendant is accused of riding his skateboard toward Jane Doe 1 and pushing her to the ground as she jogged.
  • Ahmad is further accused of covering the victim's mouth and restraining her in an attempt to suppress her screams, then sexually assaulting her before fleeing the scene.
  • Jane Doe 1 reported the assault to IPD, who investigated this case.
  • On Jan. 19, 2018, Ahmad is accused of approaching Jane Doe 3 on his skateboard and grabbing the victim's buttocks. Jane Doe 3 reported the sexual battery to IPD.
  • On Jan. 24, 2018, the defendant was arrested by IPD, who identified and located Ahmad near the scene of a reported sexual assault.

The Special Prosecutions Unit is prosecuting this case.
