Man Charged in Ex-Girlfriend’s Murder

VAN NUYS – A 30-year-old East Los Angeles man accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend was charged with murder today, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Deputy District Eileen Kim of the Van Nuys Branch Office said Fredy Hernandez (dob 03/05/79) is charged with one count of murder with the allegation that he personally used a deadly and dangerous weapon, an ice pick.

Hernandez is due to be arraigned today in Department 100 of Van Nuys Superior Court. He is charged in case No. LA063965.

Hernandez allegedly confronted Doris Salguero, 24, of Reseda on Dec. 20, following a holiday gathering attended by both. The exchange culminated with Hernandez allegedly stabbing Salguero multiple times in the chest and back, prosecutors said.

The victim’s body was discovered in her car the next day in the City of Winnetka by her brother who was driving around the area in search of Salguero.

Hernandez faces a maximum prison term of 26 years to life, if convicted as charged. His recommended bail is $1.020 million.
