LOS ANGELES – A 31-year-old alleged gang member accused of gunning down a nightclub owner last spring as the victim returned to his Baldwin Hills home was charged today with capital murder, the District Attorney’s Office announced.

Dennis Roy Brown, purportedly a Rollin 20’s Blood gang member whose gang moniker is “Junebug,” is charged with one count of murder with a special circumstance allegation that the killing occurred during the course of a robbery. The criminal complaint additionally includes gang and gun allegations.

A decision to seek the death penalty against Brown will not be made until after the defendant is held to answer at a preliminary hearing.

Brown appeared in court today for arraignment, but the hearing was postponed. The defendant’s next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 30 in Department 30 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. Brown is charged in case No. BA392841.

On May 13, 2011, Brown allegedly shot and robbed Ester Alonzo as the victim pulled into the driveway of his home at about 2:45 a.m. The victim, who was driving a 2007 Rolls Royce, was returning home from his Inglewood nightclub when he was killed.

The felony complaint alleges two prior convictions – a 2004 second-degree robbery and a 1999 attempted, second-degree robbery – both out of Los Angeles County.

  1. Hey would you mind stating which blog platform you’re using? I’m looking to start my own blog soon but I’m having a difficult time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S My apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
